Roewe i5

Automobiles

The Roewe i5 is a subcompact car built by SAIC Motor since 2017, sold as a petrol saloon and, as the Roewe Ei5 first shown at the 2017 Guangzhou Auto Show, as a battery electric estate. In export markets it is badged as an MG: the saloon is the MG5 and the electric estate is the MG5 EV, or MG EP and MG ES in Thailand. The petrol i5 uses a 1.5 litre four cylinder engine, with a turbocharged option, taken from the Buick Excelle GX, and after the 2021 facelift the turbo engine produces 169 hp. A sportier i5 GT trim appeared in 2021 and a second facelift came in June 2023. The Ei5 has a single electric motor of 116 hp and a claimed range of 300 km in its first form, and 154 hp with a 344 km WLTP range in the European MG5 EV.
