The Chrysler E Class was a mid-size front-wheel-drive sedan that Chrysler built for the 1983 and 1984 model years. It took its name from the company's E platform, which it shared with the Dodge 600 and the Plymouth Caravelle, and it began the era of downsized Chrysler cars as a companion to the first front-wheel-drive New Yorker. Chrysler aimed it at the Buick Century and Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera. It was offered only as a four-door sedan with 2.2 litre and Mitsubishi-built 2.6 litre four-cylinder engines, a turbocharged 2.2 arriving for 1984, and every car was assembled at the Jefferson Avenue plant in Detroit.
