The BYD F6 is a midsize sedan produced by the Chinese manufacturer BYD. Its styling heavily resembles the North American seventh-generation Honda Accord, with a front like that of the Renault Latitude and a rear like that of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class of the W221 generation. It was sold with three engines, all of them Mitsubishi designs, and a choice of a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission. At the 2008 North American International Auto Show BYD also showed the F6DM, a plug-in hybrid concept built on the F6 that was to use lithium iron phosphate batteries, which BYD claimed could recover 70 percent of their charge in 10 minutes. BYD said its test model could travel 100 kilometres on electric power before the petrol engine was needed, and that the battery could be fully recharged from an outlet in nine hours.
