The Series 2 SD1 was unveiled by Rover early in 1982 as a Cowley built, facelifted line, although the final Series 1 cars were also built at Cowley. SD1 buyers could finally opt for a four cylinder engine that year, since the two liter BL O-Series was fitted, and the Vitesse was launched in 1982 with 192 hp from additional engine modifications such as a hotter camshaft. Its model years run from 1982 to 1986.
