The 1982 Rover SD1 Vitesse was launched with 192 hp, thanks to additional modifications such as a hotter camshaft. Early in 1982 Rover unveiled the Cowley built, facelifted line to the public. SD1 buyers could finally opt for a four cylinder engine that year, the two liter BL O-Series. It continued to be produced by the Austin Rover division after BL was reorganised in 1982. The Series 2 was the facelifted car.
