In the autumn of 1991 the 800 was reskinned and reengineered under the R17 codename, launched on 12 November 1991. The redesign found much favour, and the 800 series became Britain's best selling executive car in the early to mid 1990s. The 2.0 liter T16 replaced the M16 found in pre 1992 cars. A two door three box notchback coupe was launched in early 1992, having debuted at the 1991 Motor Show. The Rover 75 replaced it in 1999. Its model years run from 1991 to 1999.
