In 1969 the front levelling of the Shadow's hydraulic self levelling suspension was deleted, as it had been determined that the rear levelling did almost all the work. At first both front and rear of the car were controlled by the levelling system. Pre 1970, right hand drive Shadows used a highly modified, aluminum cased version of the original cast iron four speed Hydra-Matic gearbox. It was the fifth year of the Silver Shadow.
