Production of the Silver Ghost moved to Derby in July 1908, after the chassis had first been made at Royce's Manchester works. The demonstrator AX 201 was sold in 1908, for 750 pounds, to Sir Daniel Hanbury, who used it repeatedly to travel to his Italian residence at Alassio. After 7,000 miles the cost to service the car had been a negligible 2 pounds 2 shillings and 7 pence. Rolls-Royce Limited built the car at its Derby works.
