The Silver Dawn was introduced in 1949 as an export only model, produced at the Crewe works with a Pressed Steel body shared with the Bentley Mark VI. The left hand drive manual transmission models had a column gear change, while right hand drive cars had a floor change by the door. The Series A to D cars had bodywork identical to the Mark VI, and all panels forward of the bulkhead were slightly different for the Rolls-Royce.
