The Phantom IV was a single generation, a break from Rolls-Royce's earlier decision to cease production of the big Phantoms after World War II. The chassis differed from the shorter post war Silver Wraith and Bentley Mark VI, with a larger size, an engine of increased capacity and power, an additional cross member at the centre of the cruciform bracing and ten stud road wheel mountings. Its model years run from 1950 to 1956.
