The RM series was produced in Coventry until 1949, when production moved to the MG works at Abingdon. The RM series was a new design, because air raids on Coventry destroyed the patterns of dies for the pre war models. Until 1952 the models were marketed as the Riley 1 and a half Litre and the Riley 2 and a half Litre, the term RM being used retrospectively. Production moved to the MG works at Abingdon.
