The Riley Elf ended in 1969, eight years after its release in 1961 as a more luxurious version of the Mini, and the same year the Wolseley Hornet ended, together with the Riley marque's connection with the Mini family. The Elf was the more expensive of the two cars, and its name recalled the Riley sports cars of the 1930s. The Elf was the end of the Riley name on a Mini. The Riley marque had already ended with the Riley 1300 in 1969.
