Availability of the two-door Range Rover was restricted from 1984 and it was dropped in the United Kingdom that year, though it stayed in production for some markets, mainly France, until January 1994. The 1984 model brought the first push upmarket, with leather trim, an unhinged rear number plate and a new four-speed ZF automatic gearbox. Aston Martin's American division began converting Range Rovers for American buyers in 1984.
