In 1994 the V6 and the standard three speed powertrain were effectively replaced by General Motors' new 3.1 liter 3100 series V6 engine and a new four speed automatic transmission. A driver's side airbag also became standard for 1994, but the door mounted automatic seatbelts remained. By the previous year, 1993, further refinement of the Quad 4 had resulted in a loss of 5 horsepower to all engines.
