The 2000 models added a Getrag five speed manual transmission as standard equipment with the four cylinder engine. On GT models the badge on the front fenders now read RamAir V6, instead of V6 H.O. as on 1999 GT models. The fifth generation Grand Am was a front wheel drive compact built in Lansing, Michigan, and offered with the 2.4 liter twin cam four or the 3.4 liter 3400 V6 of 170 horsepower. The 2000 Grand Am was the second year of the generation first sold for 1999.
