For 1999 all the Grand Ams featured a four speed automatic transmission, and the GT and GT1 also included four wheel disc brakes, with all Grand Ams until 2003 including standard anti lock brakes and traction control. The 1999 model was new, available in late spring 1998, and its basic design was shared with the Oldsmobile Alero, while the length was shortened slightly and the wheelbase grew by more than three inches.
