The Firebird received a mid cycle refresh for the 1998 model year, in relation to the Camaro, with a new hood and front fascia with dual intakes, retracting quad halogen headlights, circular turn signals and fog lamps, a front license plate pocket and lower fender air vents. The LS1 V8 replaced the LT1, and the 1998 Firebird was the start of the last era of the model before production ended in 2002.
