Ford Maverick (2022)

Automobiles

The Ford Maverick is a four-door compact pickup truck that Ford unveiled on 8 June 2021 as its smallest truck, sitting below the mid-size Ranger. It uses the front-wheel-drive-based unibody C2 platform shared with the Escape and Bronco Sport, is built at Ford's Hermosillo plant in Mexico and is offered only as a four-door crew cab with a short bed. A 2.5-litre Atkinson-cycle hybrid with an electric motor, rated at 191 horsepower combined, is standard, with a 2.0-litre turbocharged EcoBoost petrol engine as an option, and all-wheel drive reached the hybrid from the 2025 model year. Ford revived the name of its 1970s compact car but said it was chosen because it resonated with younger, active buyers rather than to recall the older model. Demand outran supply in the first year, Ford reported that nearly 60 percent of buyers were new to the brand, and yearly sales neared 155,000 by the end of 2025.
