The Dodge Rampage was a subcompact unibody coupe utility on Chrysler's L platform, made and marketed for the 1982 to 1984 model years, with Plymouth selling a rebadged version for 1983 as the Scamp. It combined the handling and passenger-carrying qualities of a car with the open bed and load capacity of a small pickup, like its competitors the Volkswagen Rabbit Sportruck and the Subaru BRAT. It used a Chrysler-designed 2.2 litre carbureted four-cylinder of 84 to 99 horsepower with a four-speed manual or three-speed automatic, weighed around 2,400 pounds and carried 1,145 pounds, a true half-ton rating.
