Mazda Pathfinder XV-1

Automobiles

The Mazda Pathfinder XV-1, commonly called the Mazda Jeep, is a 4x4 that Mazda built in an assembly plant in Myanmar strictly for the Myanmar market; the article dates this to 1970 to 1973, though it also describes variants from the 1990s. It was designed in Hiroshima but assembled and sold only in Myanmar, at first as complete knockdown units and later from semi-knockdown units in a factory at Htonebo Pyay, with more and more locally made parts. Most went to the military, the police and government officials and were sold to the public later, usually painted bright green. The original short body used a 2000 cc VA petrol engine, a long-wheelbase version followed, and the vehicle came as a soft-top or hard-top seating up to nine people.
