The Land Rover Series I is the original four wheel drive utility vehicle introduced by the Rover Company in 1948, designed initially as a light agricultural and general purpose vehicle with an aluminum body. It established the Land Rover marque and the basic layout carried forward by its Series II and III successors and the later Defender.
