Land Rover DC100

Automobiles

The Land Rover DC100, short for Defender Concept 100 inch, was an off-road concept vehicle first shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2011 to demonstrate what the vehicle replacing the long-running Defender might be. Land Rover showed two versions there, a three-door panel off-road car with a diesel engine and a leisure-oriented two-door Sport with no roof and a petrol engine, followed by a closed-top SUV at the Geneva show the next year and later an Expedition version. Gerry McGovern, Land Rover's design director, led the design. Brand director John Edwards said he was massively encouraged by the reaction, with people believing it to be a 45,000 pound vehicle rather than the 20,000 to 25,000 pounds he expected.
