K100 Jeep

Automobiles

The K100 Jeep was a quarter-ton 4x4 multi-purpose truck developed in 1974 by American Motors Corporation and Shinjin Jeep Motor Company, now KG Mobility, for the Republic of Korea Armed Forces. It entered service in 1975 and was built as a stop-gap until the K111 Jeep went into mass production in 1978. It followed Shinjin's 1969 deal with Kaiser Jeep to assemble CJ-5 kits in Busan and a 1973 joint venture with AMC, which had bought Kaiser Jeep in 1970, to build 500 Jeeps a month for the military and the home market. After the partnership ended Shinjin exported the vehicles and replaced the V6 gasoline engine, blamed for poor sales, with an Isuzu 4BA1 diesel.
