The Oxford Six was renamed the Oxford Sixteen in September 1934, from the car's 16 hp tax horsepower category, when its 2062 cc engine was joined by the 2561 cc Twenty, sold for the same price. Barely nine months later these cars were superseded by members of the Morris Big Six Series II range, announced 2 July 1935, and the Oxford name disappeared from new Morris cars until 1948. The Oxford name was due to disappear the next year.
