The Town Box of 2009 was in its eleventh year as the first generation, a mid engined kei car with a short bonnet, three cylinder 659 cc engines in naturally aspirated and turbocharged forms, and two or four wheel drive. The Town Box was a passenger oriented vehicle, with the Nissan Clipper Rio as its twin in Japan, and the Wide had gone eight years earlier, in 2001. The Town Box Wide was also built in Malaysia as the Proton Juara.
