The Town Box of 2008 was in its tenth year as the first generation, a kei car sold in Japan as the Town Box and the Clipper Rio, with a 659 cc three cylinder engine in naturally aspirated or turbocharged form. The rear seat used a split folding bench after the early facelift of November 2000, and the car was available with two or four wheel drive. In Japan the Town Box was sold at Mitsubishi dealers as a kei wagon. The Town Box was a mid-engined kei car with a short bonnet.
