The Space Star of 1999 was its first full year on sale, a compact people carrier built at the NedCar factory in the Netherlands and primarily sold in the European markets. The other petrol engines were a 1.6 liter with 97 horsepower and a 1.8 liter with 112 horsepower, all straight four engines. In 2013 Mitsubishi began selling the sixth generation Mirage supermini under the Space Star name in parts of Europe, owing to legal rights relating to the Mirage nameplate.
