The first generation Pajero Sport of 2007 was in its twelfth and last full model year, sold in central and western Europe until 2008, when the second generation Pajero and Montero Sport was introduced. Sales in central and western Europe ended in 2008, with the introduction of the second generation. It was based on the Strada pickup of the same vintage and served as a smaller model to the larger Pajero. In Japan it was sold at a specific retail chain called Car Plaza.
