In the United States, where it was superseded by the Endeavor, sales ended in 2004. The Pajero Sport of 2004 was the ninth model year of the first generation, still sold in Europe, Canada and the Philippines as the Montero Sport and Shogun Sport, and assembled in China and Brazil for local markets. It was based on the Strada pickup of the same vintage and served as a smaller model to the larger Pajero. Sales in central and western Europe ended in 2008, with the introduction of the second generation.
