In Venezuela the second generation was manufactured from 1992 to 1995 under the name Mitsubishi Montero. The second generation Pajero was in its second year, built in Japan since January 1991 and exported from later that year, with the V6 petrol and turbo diesel engines of the Pajero range, and the Montero name was used in North America, Spain and Latin America. Over the 40 year run to 2021 more than 3.3 million Pajeros were sold.
