In 2000 the Pajero iO was in its third year on sale, a mini SUV with a three door or five door body. In Europe the car was sold as the Pajero Pinin and the Shogun Pinin, named to honor Pininfarina, which built the cars for the local market at a factory near Turin in Italy, while Japan kept the iO name. The Pajero iO is a mini SUV produced by the Japanese manufacturer Mitsubishi. The Brazilian TR4 was the first four-wheel drive flexible-fuel vehicle of Mitsubishi.
