A major facelift for the 2010 model year gave the top end Outlander XLS, the GT in the United States, a new colour multi function display and the Mitsubishi S-AWC all wheel drive system. In September 2010 Mitsubishi's own 2.3 liter 4N14 diesel engine of 177 PS was introduced while the Volkswagen engine was discontinued, and the RVR was reintroduced on 17 February 2010 as a shorter version. The second generation used various engines developed by Mitsubishi, Volkswagen and PSA Peugeot Citroen.
