A second show car, an Outlander GT Prototype with a front grille based on the Lancer Evolution X, was exhibited at the 2009 New York International Auto Show. In 2009 the GLX grade was added to the lineup, powered by the same 2.4 liter four as the GLS, and in Japan the Outlander was the best selling SUV from October 2009. NedCar built the European Outlander. The Outlander is a compact crossover SUV made by Mitsubishi Motors since 2001.
