The model was facelifted for the 2008 model year, although the 2007 grille carried over in the United States and Canada for 2008 and 2009 until another facelift in the 2010 model year. From 2008 the Outlander for the European market was produced by NedCar in the Netherlands. The second generation was built in Japan and, from 2008, at the Born plant, and in Europe sold with PSA diesel engines. The second generation used various engines developed by Mitsubishi, Volkswagen and PSA Peugeot Citroen.
