The Lancer Fortis made its Chinese debut at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show. The Lancer Sportback was sold until 2013 in a single version, signed by Ralliart, and the Lancer Evolution X was also sold, although not produced locally. The ninth generation was in its seventh year, a compact sedan and hatchback with 1.8 and 2.0 liter engines. Between its introduction in 1973 and 2008 over six million Lancers were sold. It was sold in Japan as the Galant Fortis and in Taiwan as the Lancer Fortis.
