Mitsubishi unveiled a second concept car, the Prototype-X, at the 2007 North American International Auto Show. The Evolution X went on sale on 1 October 2007 in Japan, New Zealand and some of Australia, and 2007 models are rare as they were only sold in these countries. The Twin Clutch SST version was available in Japan from November 2007. The Lancer Evolution was a sports sedan and rally car based on the Lancer, made by Mitsubishi Motors from 1992 until 2016, with ten official versions.
