By the end of April 2019 the combined sales of the i-MiEV and Minicab MiEV had reached over 31,000 units in Japan. In January 2019 an importer announced the i-MiEV would be discontinued in its market. The i-MiEV of 2019 was in its tenth year as a five door electric city car. Rebadged variants of the i-MiEV are also sold by PSA as the Peugeot iOn and Citroen C-Zero, mainly in Europe. MiEV is an acronym for Mitsubishi innovative Electric Vehicle, and the car is the electric version of the Mitsubishi i.
