The Colt of 1969 was in its eighth year, with the Colt 1200, the Colt 1500 and the fastback line, produced by the newly unified Mitsubishi Motors. The marque was used in Asia until the 1970s and in Europe until the 1980s, when Mitsubishi began to use its own name in more markets. Colt was also used as a marque from 1974 to 1984 by the Colt Car Company to market Mitsubishi vehicles in the United Kingdom. Chrysler, Mitsubishi's longtime partner, also used the Colt name for the Dodge and Plymouth Colt captive imports for the North American market between 1970 and 1994.
