The Chariot went on sale in February 1983 as a small MPV from Mitsubishi, based on the SSW concept car first shown at the 1979 Tokyo Motor Show, and named for chariots of the Greek and Roman empires. The rebadged Dodge and Plymouth Colt Vista was introduced in August 1983 as a 1984 model for North America. The MR Turbo version followed in July. The Chariot was sold in most export markets as the Mitsubishi Space Wagon.
