In August 2026 Mitsubishi Motors introduced a battery electric SUV marketed as the Mitsubishi ASX VR-e in Australia and New Zealand. The ASX of 2026 was the fourth model year of the second generation in Europe, where it is a rebadged Renault Captur, with a plug in hybrid, a hybrid and a gasoline version. The ASX is short for Active Sports Crossover. The ASX was positioned below the Outlander in Mitsubishi's crossover SUV line up.
