This version was introduced in Europe in September 2016 at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. The ASX of 2016 was the seventh model year, a subcompact crossover SUV built in Japan for the global market. The ASX was positioned below the Outlander in Mitsubishi's crossover SUV line up. The ASX is short for Active Sports Crossover. The RVR nameplate is only used in Japan, South Korea and Canada, and the car is also sold as the Outlander Sport in several markets.
