The Mitsubishi Mirage Dingo was a mini MPV built by Mitsubishi Motors from 1998 to 2003 on a shortened version of the Mirage platform. The name came from Bingo, with the B swapped for a D for the company's diamond logo, and it also nodded to the Australian wild dog. In Japan it was sold at the Car Plaza dealer chain, and its body and cabin closely resembled the Dion. It seated five on two rows, with a 50-50 split rear bench whose halves slid separately and could be folded or removed, and a column-mounted gear shifter that left no transmission tunnel so people could walk between the front and rear seats. It launched with the 4G15 Orion 1.5 litre GDI engine and an INVECS-II four-speed automatic; a 1.3 litre engine without GDI and a 1.8 litre 4G93 arrived with the 2000 facelift, along with the INVECS-III continuously variable transmission. In China it was license-built as the Hafei Saima from April 2001 to 2014.
