The first-generation Mitsubishi eK Space, with its sportier variant the eK Space Custom, was announced on 3 October 2013 and released on 13 February 2014 as a tall-height wagon kei car with rear sliding doors. Nissan sold the same car as the Dayz Roox. The eK Space Custom, with its large chrome grille, was facelifted in December 2016 together with the standard eK Space. The Custom gained an even larger Dynamic Shield grille similar to the one introduced on the Outlander in 2015, while the standard eK Space had its original full-width grille replaced by a two-tier opening surrounded by sheet metal. The generation ran until the second-generation eK Space and eK X Space were unveiled in February 2020.
