Ford SAV

Automobiles

The Ford SAV, short for Sports Activity Vehicle and not to be confused with the term BMW uses for its SUVs, was a seven seater large MPV concept car developed by Ford Europe. It was first shown to the public at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show as a styling exercise to show the new direction for Ford design in Europe, and Ford put it into production a year later as the Ford S-MAX with slight changes. Larger than the Mondeo and smaller than the Galaxy, it was designed for flexible use, with the Business Class rear seating first seen on the Ford Focus C-MAX, where electric motors rearranged the seats for passenger comfort or extra cargo room. Its exterior aimed for a more aggressive feel, with a steeply sloped windscreen and an arching roofline that blurred the line between minivan and sport utility vehicle.
