By 2015 the Paceman was in its fourth model year at Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria, as the three door counterpart of the Countryman. The two cars had been built side by side in the same plant, and the Paceman's position in the Mini line up was beginning to look too close to the Countryman, which was one reason BMW would end its production the following year. It was built in Austria, away from the main Mini plant at Cowley.
