The second generation Countryman was introduced at the LA Auto Show in November 2016. Since November 2016 it has been assembled at VDL Nedcar in Born, the Netherlands, a change from the Magna Steyr in Austria that had built the first generation. It was launched in three variants, the Cooper, Cooper S and Cooper S E ALL4, with front or all wheel drive. It was the first Countryman to be made outside Austria.
