The Xedos 6 of 1997 was in its sixth year, a compact executive car sold in Europe by Mazda and in Japan as the Mazda Eunos 500, with the 1.6 liter and 2.0 liter Sport models. There were also plans to market the car under the Amati 300 name, but they did not come to fruition. The V6 models could reach 133 miles per hour with a manual transmission. The 2 liter V6 produced 144 horsepower and was praised for its smooth, free revving nature.
