The Verisa was developed as a Japan only car to fill the gap between the Familia, which ended with the arrival of the Axela, and the Demio, aiming at a premium compact position with an optional leather seat, an advanced key as standard and seat parts of the Atenza. It was sold for over eleven years without a model change, with many special editions and small improvements. Its model years run from 2004 to 2016.
