The Verisa of 2008 was in its fifth year, a Japan only compact car that Mazda had developed to fill the gap between the Familia, discontinued with the arrival of the Axela, and the Demio. It was a premium compact with leather seats optional, an advanced key as standard, parts of the Atenza front seat, and a larger rear seatback, in exchange for the seat arrangement. The name Verisa was created by combining the Italian word verita, meaning truth, with the English word satisfaction.
