The Verisa went on sale on 28 June 2004 as a semi tall wagon compact car for Japan only, built on the same DY platform as the Demio, with a sales target of 2,500 a month. Its name was announced in April, it won the Best Value special prize of the Japan Car of the Year, and a limited run of 800 L style cars with dark brown interior parts went on sale in December. The name Verisa was created by combining the Italian word verita, meaning truth, with the English word satisfaction.
